Meet the Crew - Sailing Vessel LunaSea

If there’s one thing that has always defined us as a family, it’s a slightly restless curiosity about the world.

Travel hasn’t just been something we do—it’s part of who we are.

Between us, we’ve lived in Australia, the UK, the US, and Northern Ireland, and somewhere along the way, that mix of places turned into a shared love of exploring what’s out there. We met nearly 30 years ago at University College London—two science students who had no idea then just how far life (and the world) would take us.

Life, of course, did what life does. Careers grew, responsibilities multiplied, and travel became something we tried to squeeze into school holidays and annual leave. And then one day, we realised something a little uncomfortable…

The kids were finally old enough to truly experience the world—and we were running out of time to experience it with them.

So we made a decision that felt equal parts exciting, terrifying, and completely right.

We would take our home with us… and go.

Annabelle (17) – The Soundtrack Curator

Annabelle has always taken change in her stride—new schools, new countries, new ways of living. Boat life is no exception. She’s rarely without a book, happiest when she’s out mountain biking or sailing, and brings the soundtrack to our lives wherever we go. Our onboard record player was a non-negotiable addition—and she’s firmly in charge of what’s playing (which means our music taste now spans several decades… whether we like it or not).

Oscar (11) – The Builder & Tinkerer

Oscar joined the adventure early—moving to the US at just 12 weeks old—and has been curious about the world ever since. Right now, that curiosity is firmly focused on WWII history, Lego engineering projects inspired by whatever he’s learning, and increasingly… electronics through playing with his Arduino set and learning to code. Give him a few wires, a bit of code, and a problem to solve, and he’s in his element. Sailing has also captured his imagination, especially after discovering the speed (and competition!) of Opti racing.

Bethan (8) – The Ocean Whisperer

Bethan might be the youngest, but she absolutely keeps the rest of us on our toes. She’s confident, hilarious, and not remotely intimidated by her older siblings. But put her in the water with a snorkel, and she’s in her true happy place. Her knowledge of fish and reef life is genuinely impressive—often identifying things the rest of us swim straight past. If there’s something interesting under the surface, Bethan will find it first.

And Us…

Somewhere between careers in Fractional HR consulting and global pharmaceutical strategy, we realized that what we really wanted wasn’t just another holiday—it was time. Time together. Time to explore. Time to show the kids the kind of world you don’t find in textbooks.

So this is us—figuring it out as we go, one anchorage at a time.
